Harriet's Stairs

Harriet's Stairs
30 October 2008

Following on from yesterdays spooky post, this image is of a section of the winding staircase in Charleville Castle. Anybody who has visited the castle will have heard the tale of Harriet, a little girl who lost her balance while sliding down the banister and fell to her death three floors below. After the accident, blocks were added to the handrail to prevent the tragedy from ever occurring again. Visitors have reported hearing a girl laughing and feeling a cold draught when walking these stairs.

This image was lit using a 580EXII which was triggered using an STE-2 transmitter. The flash was bounced off of a wooden panel which diffused and warmed the light.
