Corner Shop

Corner Shop
29 February 2008

When composing this shot I liked the idea that the undesirable items like rubbish and poverty were hidden around the corner away from the main street (hence the compositional split down the centre). I also liked how the face in the poster was looking out of the frame. It was only during processing that I noticed that the shadow being cast by the bin resembles a silhouette face looking into the frame. It is a pity I didn't notice that little detail at the time as they could probably play off each other as a primary subject. C'est la vie! The more astute among you may have recognised the shop as that from Fair City. This shot was taken on the outdoor set of RTE on Wednesday before attending a lunch in relation to this. I was delighted to see that Latchiko.com is sitting pretty (and slightly disoriented) among the elite of Irish photobloggers in the Best Photo Blog Finalist. It's unexpected but fantastic!
